It’s necessary to take a break once in a while. Simple breaks with coffee and cookie might not be able to break you out of your stress zone.
An effective break will charge you up. A one minute walk around the office or a refreshing hot drink can make up for your tedious work hours. Instead of sitting idle for more than one hour, take a break once in a while.
Guess what !! You can make your 5 minutes break effectively with these techniques. Read on.
Learn breathing exercises
All cells in your body need oxygen. Your brain needs a lot of energy and it’s very dependent on oxygen. Inadequate oxygen flow to the brain will make you stagnant at what you’re doing.
Take a five-minute break and do this breathing exercise.
Yoga is a great technique to make your mind calm and concentrate again. Overstressed? Take a 5-minute break to do the yoga at a calm and quiet place. Clear your mind from all the junks around.
Get up and stretch once in a while. Walk around the room, or around the compound. Stretch your muscles, stop staring at a screen or your regular workplace. Go around and come back in 5 minutes.
This will also increase your blood circulation and let your brain consume more oxygen, which is transported through blood.
Coffee, more of it
“When we drink coffee, caffeine binds to our brain’s adenosine receptors, preventing the chemical from binding with the receptors and making us tired.
And, caffeine prevents dopamine from getting reabsorbed into your system, leaving the feel-good chemical hanging around in your brain longer.”
Sounds good? Keep in mind, too much of anything is not good for you.
Eat something healthy
Pack up some fruit cuts with your lunch. Eat some healthy fruits during your break. Still, too much of them is not good. Just to feel refreshed.
Remember. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Take a power nap
A power nap might take a bit more than 5 minutes. But if you have around 20 minutes to spare, give your eyes some shut time. You can’t work continuously more than 45 minutes according to science. More time you’re spending at your work is not as good as it gets.
Take a gap with a nap. Come back with more energy.
A quick shower(if possible)
The afternoon is one of the least productive time of a day. I’ve seen people working out in the afternoon in my office. Also, if possible take a quick shower and come back. Let your brain cool down.
If you’re not able to do a shower, wash your face and hands often. That’ll help your nervous system.
